Chris Lockwood is a publisher and marketer making a full-time living online, working from home and on the road.
He spent 15 years in corporate jobs in the software industry until September 2001, when the fateful events of that month brought everything to
a screeching halt. After several months of unplanned time off, when there was still no hiring to speak of, he figured out it was time to find
another way to make a living.
After flirting with ideas ranging from getting another college degree (too expensive), learning a trade (manual labor involved), real estate,
stock trading, several wasted months as a mortgage broker, and various other ideas that were wrong for him, he finally turned to the Internet. He
had built his first website in 1995, but it had never occurred to him that he could make money from it. (Sometimes the obvious takes a long time
to see.)
Since then, he's done almost everything imaginable online, from Adsense to Z, but his main business has been publishing, such as ebooks,
blogs, and newsletters, and in recent years, membership sites.
Early in 2007, he wrote a report about how he got 1296 members to one of his membership sites in 44 days, without paid advertising,
affiliates, or emailing his list. The report sold over 1700 copies before he took it off the market as promised a few weeks later. That
fall, he published a full-length ebook on the subject, which he no longer sells. The report led to speaking at three major Internet marketing
conferences over the next twelve months and eventually the creation of a home study course.
